Modalities & Rates
Every session is tailored to you
Each session is unique. Below are descriptions of the modalities and techniques in which I've been trained. Based on conversation as you arrive and intuition during your session, I may use a combination of these techniques or focus on one, depending on your needs.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as gliding, rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, and greater flexibility.
Anatomically Precise Bodywork
I use anatomically precise techniques to access and release trigger points or "knots" in your muscles, realigning the fibers for freer motion. This is sometimes referred to as "deep tissue" massage, but I will never use enough pressure to bruise or leave your tissues any more sore than if you had a good workout. Open communication during the session is important to make sure we use the appropriate amount of pressure to be effective. These techniques can be blended into a full body massage if you have a particular area of need, or we can focus on rehabilitating areas of chronic stress due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and lingering injuries.
Chakra Stone Massage
Chakra stone massage utilizes a variety of stones known for their healing properties (e.g., obsidian, carnelian, fluorite, lapis lazuli, and various quartz crystals). Stones may be warmed, and are used to massage before being placed on the appropriate energy center (chakra). The energetic vibrations inherent in each type of gemstone deepen the healing effects for your body, mind, and spirit.
Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Clients typically wear shorts and a sports bra or similar clothing so the therapist can see how your body is responding and determine where to work next.
CranioSacral Therapy is a very gentle, light-touch approach that releases tensions around the central nervous system so that every other system in the body can relax, self-correct, and free itself of pain and discomfort. By freeing up restrictions and optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid around the skull (cranium) and down the spine to the tailbone (sacrum), it is effective in releasing headaches, neck and back pain, and stress and tension-related disorders, among many other things. You may find more information at the Upledger Institute website. Clients remain fully clothed.
According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. We will methodically explore your feet and discover the stories they have to tell. This work stands on its own or can be incorporated with other modalities.
Energy work is a relaxing, nurturing way to strengthen the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms. Gentle touch as well as hands-off work in the energy field around your body assists in balancing your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I have been trained in several energy work modalities, including Reiki, Healing Touch, and Quantum Touch, and will use intuition and input from you to determine which technique to use at any given moment. Clients remain clothed, and energy work can easily be blended with other modalities.
Any session can begin with the benefits of essential oils (the concentrated, fragrant extracts of plants) to promote relaxation and help relieve various symptoms. We can also continue using the oils throughout the session to heighten their restorative effects. You will help to choose the most appropriate oil from a selection of citrus, floral, woodsy, and blended oils.
Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home, workplace, or event site. You receive your massage while sitting in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. Chair massage is done over the clothing, and sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it more convenient to fit into your day. If you have a group or event that would appreciate the health benefits of massage, this is the perfect way to meet that need.

If possible, allow extra time to continue integrating the work we've done before leaving. Also, new clients should allow time to fill out a basic health questionnaire and discuss your goals before the session.
